Accreditation Program Advisory Councils

The Accreditation Program Advisory Councils are an integral part of ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥’s advisory structure. Comprised of individuals with expertise in each field ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ accredits, the Advisory Council’s objective is to assist in driving ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥'s mission of evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value through our accreditation programs. The councils provide valuable input on accreditation products, services, and activities of the Joint Commission enterprise to promote patient safety and quality within the components of all health care organizations.

Health Systems Corporate Liaisons

Provides advice on issues related to the accreditation process. Most members are clinicians representing approximately 80 health care systems and more than 60% of the hospitals.

Nursing Advisory Council

The Nursing Advisory Council counsels senior leadership at ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ on present and evolving nursing- and patient care-related issues that are impacting health care quality and patient safety. The group shares with senior leadership perspectives on Joint Commission initiatives and identifies ways in which the impacts of recent and planned future changes in Joint Commission standards, measures, and survey processes can be optimized relative to nursing and patient care across the care continuum.

Patient and Family Advisory Council

A diverse group of nationally prominent individuals and organizations serve on ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥â€™s Patient and Family Advisory Council.

Patient Safety Advisory Group

The Patient Safety Advisory Group is comprised of nurses, physicians, pharmacists, risk managers and other professionals who have hands-on experience in addressing patient safety issues in a wide variety of health care settings.
